What Newport Beach skin needs

Newport Beach skin gets steady sun and salt air almost every day of the year, so the usual problems are sun spots, uneven tone and rough texture. For most coastal clients Aida starts with a pigmentation or glycolic peel and spaces sessions so the skin never goes into a beach weekend freshly peeled.

Clients come from Corona del Mar, Balboa Island, Eastbluff, Newport Coast and Westcliff. Many are boaters, beach runners and Fashion Island regulars. The studio is about 10 minutes from Newport Beach, up Jamboree or MacArthur Blvd. Free parking on site, open every day from 8 AM to 9 PM.

How often and what to expect

Fall and winter are the best peel season in Orange County: the sun is lower and it is easier to protect fresh skin. A typical course is 3 to 6 peels, 2 to 4 weeks apart. Light peels mean 1 to 3 days of mild flaking, not a week at home.

Who it is for

When to wait: A peel is not the right choice during active cold sores, open wounds, sunburn, within 6 months of oral isotretinoin, or during pregnancy for retinol and salicylic peels. If any of these apply, Aida will suggest a facial or LED session instead.

How a visit goes

  1. Skin check. Aida looks at your skin under magnification, asks about products you use (retinoids, acids) and recent sun exposure, and chooses the acid and strength.
  2. Cleanse and prep. Makeup and oil are removed and the skin is degreased so the acid works evenly. Sensitive spots around the eyes and nose are protected.
  3. Peel application. The solution stays on for a few minutes while Aida watches how the skin reacts. Tingling or warmth is normal; it is neutralized or removed on time, not left to chance.
  4. Calm and protect. A soothing mask and mineral SPF finish the session. You leave with written aftercare and a date for the next peel.

Aftercare

For the first 3 to 5 days, wash with a gentle cleanser, skip scrubs, retinol and acids, and do not pick at flaking skin. Wear SPF 30 or higher every day for at least two weeks, a hat at the beach, and avoid hot yoga, saunas and long sun exposure for 48 hours. Most light peels mean 1 to 3 days of mild flaking. Makeup is fine from the next day. Questions after your visit? Text Aida at (949) 444-6191.
