How a visit goes

1. Quick consultation. Aida asks about skin sensitivity, medications and when you last shaved, and checks that hair is long enough.
2. Cleanse and prep. Skin is cleaned and lightly powdered or oiled so the wax grips the hair, not the skin.
3. Waxing. Small sections, quick pulls, and pressure right after each one to ease the sting. Stray hairs are tweezed.
4. Soothe. A calming lotion goes on at the end. You get simple aftercare and a suggested date for the next visit.

Aftercare

For 24 hours skip hot baths, saunas, hot workouts, the pool and the beach, and wear loose clothes over waxed areas. Do not use scented lotion or self-tanner that day. How to choose a provider near Costa Mesa

• Look for a clean, private room and fresh wax for every client, with no double-dipping.
• The person waxing should hold a California cosmetology or esthetician license.
• Ask how long the hair should be and whether they wax over retinoid-treated skin (they should not).
• A Brazilian should take under an hour, with tweezing of stray hairs included.
